It was a foggy, cold, rainy night; one that comes straight out of an old black and white horror movie. Who was Cybil kidding, it was one of those typical nights in New York City. She was located here about a month ago, picking up where the living left off at, to clean up messes these humans tend to make. The holy power upstairs sent her here because of the high deaths that seemed to be hitting home. It was enough to put her to work day by day.
Tonight, Cybil was dressed in her usual black look. The other death angels around always frowned at her for being so dark as she turned out to be. Though it felt like a cliché to wear the tunics, spread open her wings with a gold halo above her. And oh, shine as brightly as the sun when she casted the soul to the afterlife. Yeah, Cybil couldn’t do that. Tonight it was a plain black tank top, tight black jeans, with boots to go over her pants. Around her neck, she wore a silver Egyptian ankh. Frowning, Cybil ran her fingers through her dark black hair while she rounded a corner, making her way to one of the bodies lying in a dark alleyway.
Staring down the one body, Cybil tilted her head to the side a little looking at the pool of blood that poured from this body. Another murder from both a knife and a gunshot. ‘What is wrong with humans?’ Cybil thought to herself staring at the body until the soul emerged standing infront of her.
“Ready to go?” Cybil asked, looking at the young woman.
“Go where? Who are you?” the woman asked her, same questions as usual.
“I’m Death, and your gonna go where you are to be led to. Head that way please.” Cybil told her, pointing to the bright light behind her.
The woman looked at her with fear in her eyes, “I’m supposed to go home.”
“I understand, but now you must go home through the light.” Cybil told her, the woman nodded sadly and did as Cybil told her to do. Taking one last look over her shoulder, she watched the woman walk into the light, but did not return. Within a few seconds the light closed before the soul decided to turn back around. Nodding, Cybil moved onward. Yes, another typical night indeed, minus completing her own deed though in this world.
A while back, Cybil and Creator talked her into coming to this world to be part of it. The catch? No one but her only true love can see her, and once she learns to love, can she finally drop her duties as being a Death Bringer. Cybil knew this would be an impossible task at hand, seeing that NO ONE but dead souls could see her..and are brought to the afterlife. Sometimes Cybil asked Creator how her true love is supposed to find her if he can’t see her. Creator told her, Love will find its way, even if it is blind.
Frowning deeply, Cybil rounded a corner through an alleyway making her way into the outskirts of the city. Her next victum was close by. It would be another murder, yet again…how many people did she really have clean up, and move on just because someone hated another. What was wrong with people these days? Shaking her head, Cybil put her hand through her black hair once again, casually walking toward where a guy and girl were on a bench.
Stretching her arms, she leaned her back on a near by tree that was beside the couple. At first, it looked like a gentle kissing and such, until the man looked like he was ready to eat her neck off. Cybil frowned deeply watching the two intently, waiting for the tragic ending to happen already….
